The Greeters of the Morlaix’s Bay love their towns and villages and this territory which is familiar to them and yet always unique. They invite you to share a moment of relaxation, discovery and exchange around the activities they practice, what touches them and places that are close to their hearts, as they would with friends.
Whether with Yvon, Jean-Pierre or Marie-Françoise, depending on whether you prefer the coast, the city or the countryside, you will enjoy the time of a stroll of their knowledge on a particular aspect of this “country” that they like to share.

Where is the Morlaix Bay ?
The Bay of Morlaix is located in northern Finistère, in Brittany, this region will seduce you with its diverse and remarkable landscapes!
From the crests of the Monts d’Arrée to the beaches and coastal paths, this territory steeped in history, where the lights play with the seasons, is labeled “Land of art and history”. Emblematic monuments such as the Château du Taureau, the Cairn de Barnenez, the Parish enclosures or the Maisons à Pondalez make up the identity and the cultural richness of the places. The Bay of Morlaix is also a lively country where leisure activities abound all year round and where life is good: come and share this experience with our Greeters!

Each of the “Greeter de France” destinations is led and managed by a local actor: Association, collective of residents or tourist entity (Tourist Offices, Departmental Tourism Committee). These actors are all members of the FFG (France Greeters Federation) and as such respect the same operating rules. They follow the values and ethics defined globally by IGA (International Greeter Association). The management and coordination of the France Greeters Federation ensures the pooling of our processes and tools, our global presence on the Web and social networks as well as the sharing of our communication programs.

Morlaix, discovering the past
After a few decades of garrison in garrison, return to the country of my youth. Passionate about history and an artist, I rediscover my roots and am available to make them known.
In the Bay of Morlaix or in the Monts d’Arrée, I love above all the variety and beauty of the landscapes, the richness of the civil and religious heritage, the originality of its history and its traditions. But also, I love the sea, the rocks, the forest, the mansions, the chapels…
I am retired (and therefore very busy!): I maintain the heritage. I practice painting, sculpture and reading. I love history and exhibits.
For me, being a Greeter means sharing and exchanging, in all simplicity.

Stroll around the port of Morlaix
It is the passion for history and the love of my birthplace that made me commit to being a Greeter.
I will show you the port, as I know and appreciate it. It was a source of wealth for the city since the 15th century thanks to the linen cloth trade and corsair activity… During this wandering, you will discover some of the emblematic monuments that adjoin the port: the Tobacco Factory, the old quays, the old fountains and their legends.
I expect these walks to meet and share to make my city known.
I was born in the rue des Vignes in Morlaix and I now live in the Monts d’Arrée. My passion since my childhood, drawing, so an artist at heart. I am retired and I appreciate being able to travel my country and share this pleasure with others.

Pleyber-Christ, the sunken paths of Riboul Potic
It was the passion for history and the love of my birthplace that made me commit to being a Greeter. My former job as a nurse does not influence my choice to be a Greeter but gave me a taste for contact with others and the need to breathe while walking the paths of our Brittany.
Rivers and hollow paths shape the bocage landscape between the Monts d’Arrée and Morlaix.
Come and discover the local flora through the Queffleuth valley, where you will see the evolution of these various landscapes since the 19th century… Along the way, mill, rivers, moors, peat bogs, bocage, woods, wet meadows…
For several centuries, human activity animated the sunken lanes of Riboul Potic: the manufacture of linen fabrics, the manufacture of paper and agriculture.
Marie-Françoise will reveal the secrets of this mysterious valley to you and will take you on the historical traces of this natural border of the historical regions of Léon and Trégor…
Meet at the start of the interpretive trail in the town of Pleyber-Christ for a 1h30 to 2h walk. Ideal to do with the family. Bring boots depending on the weather…

Morlaix, with an air of Montmartre
You want to discover a district of Morlaix with breathtaking panoramas, with beautiful houses surrounded by gardens resplendent with flowers in summer, with steep alleys with evocative names where water flows and vines grow…
Meet with Marie-Françoise ! She will accompany you in this district where she grew up, where she played between alley with waters and rue des vignes.
She will tell you about the history of this district overlooking the old hospital, she will tell you how she lived there as a child and will share with you all the research she has done to learn about the history of the place.
She will be happy to accompany you through this maze of alleys from the fountains district to the Faubourg Saint-Melaine. And maybe you will have the chance to enter his childhood home where the new occupants have recently discovered a well!

JEAN-PIERRE S.
Henvic, Vannec tower
Find Jean-Pierre, who will make you discover “his” Henvic, with his market gardening and vegetable farming, artichokes and cauliflowers mainly on the plateau offering panoramas over the bay of Morlaix and the Penzé estuary, but also his heritage monk and its two churches or the Sainte-Marguerite chapel.
And Jean-pierre’s Henvic is also the Morlaix/Roscoff railway line and its viaduct crossing the Penzé, the nautical activity on the Penzé, its old ferry, or its more secret places like the pond of Vannec, its mansions surrounded by woods, its sunken lanes.
In two or three hours, Jean-Pierre will share with you the very varied natural, historical and architectural heritage of this town. The whole circuit is relatively easy with however some good elevations which require good walking equipment.
Jean-Pierre, a native of Henvic, enjoys hiking and kayaking. He became a greeter to share his knowledge of this territory and meet people from different cultures.
