PAYS D’IROISE
GREETER WALK
COME FOR A GREET WITH A LOCAL
Discover the Pays d’Iroise, with an inhabitant.
In the country of Iroise, we are above all passionate about our territory. While mass tourism disfigures too many sites, we are aware of its authenticity. We only want to share this preserved, still somewhat secret, with all those who wish to discover or rediscover it, in its historical and unusual aspects. We are six Greeters in the Pays d’Iroise, sharing this spirit of welcome and sharing. Each has its own personality and interests, but all are complementary. We are just waiting for your visit, in all seasons, to take these walks together, and make you discover this country, its current or past riches, and its landscapes that the ocean conditions constantly renew.

Each of the “Greeter de France” destinations is led and managed by a local actor: Association, collective of residents or tourist entity (Tourist Offices, Departmental Tourism Committee). These actors are all members of the FFG (France Greeters Federation) and as such respect the same operating rules. They follow the values and ethics defined globally by IGA (International Greeter Association). The management and coordination of the France Greeters Federation ensures the pooling of our processes and tools, our global presence on the Web and social networks as well as the sharing of our communication programs.

BETWEEN EARTH AND SEA
From the top of the Aber Ildut to the small port of Mazou, Maryvonne will accompany you for a small eclectic hike. Between the rocky coast of the Iroise Sea, with a view of the Molène archipelago, and ribinoù (small bocage paths in Breton), discover two very different facets and yet so close to our territory. Blue and green mix together to form a single word in Breton: glaz.

GRANITE and ALGUES
In Lanildut, people have always drawn their livelihoods from the natural resources of the land and the sea. Granite is no longer extracted, but the goemoan boats still unload the seaweed harvested in the Molène Archipelago, making Lanildut the first European port for this activity.
Gérard will tell you about the prestigious fate of the Aber granite, and the equally amazing fate of the seaweed harvested by the harvesters of the sea.

Off the beaten track, Robert takes you on the paths of yesteryear in a bocage landscape. Go up and down the valleys and suddenly discover an old fountain with medicinal properties, a cross from the Middle Ages, a 15th century manor, a house with character, the maquis of the Resistance from the last war,… Hike at a bushy pace through one of the smallest towns in the Pays d’Iroise. Preserved from consolidation, the village has kept its rural character and claims it.

IROISE COUNTRY GEOLOGY
The Pays d’Iroise offers an exceptional geological wealth linked to its belonging to the Armorican Massif. The latter is the witness of the succession of several mountain chains that have shaped it for a little over 500 million years. On the paths of the lanvénécois, plougonvelinois and conquétois littoral, come to discover rocks, minerals and many other geological curiosities which represent so many keys of reading of the history of the Earth. It is also an opportunity to make the link between the rocks and the rich historical heritage.

Saturday 5 August at 2 p.m.: from Kermorvan to the Blancs Sablons
