Saint-Palais-sur-Mer – Permanent exhibition of 3 generations of photographers
Welcome to my home ! My house turns into a giant photo album the time of your visit. Let’s dive together into my family archives and through them into the past of Saint-Palais. The goal? Full frame on the daily life of Saint-Palaisiens and the evolution of the city over the 20th century. I will present the seaside resort to you from all angles and tell you about the Saint-Palais that I have known since I was little.
Who am I ?
Daughter and granddaughter of photographers, I have made this art my job, a long journey from black and white silver images to digital. In memory of these 3 generations of passionate professionals, I wrote “A century of photographs” in Saint Palais sur mer, a book retracing the evolution of our seaside resort.
In 2021, still with these same archives, I decided to make a permanent exhibition, which I show by making an appointment. Come share, exchange, and discover these convivial moments thanks to the universal language of images. “Writing with light” is how photography is defined.

Saint-Palais-sur-Mer – the custom trail
Would you like a little outing on the coast of the Côte de Beauté? I take you on the Sentier des Douaniers to discover the legendary rocks: the Pont du Diable and the Puits de l’Auture. Where do their names come from? What stories are they hiding? From the foot of the Terre-Nègre lighthouse, we look for the Cordouan lighthouse. From villa to villa, from plaice to plaice, we walk along the seaside for a walk during which I confide to you the secrets that I have discovered during my readings and my walks.
Who am I ?
My favorite in Saint Palais-sur-mer, on this coast of beauty, is the coastal footpath. It reveals the secrets of different beaches, the mysteries of picturesque villas and the legends nestled in the hollows of the rocks. Vegetation, squares and lighthouses give this particular place a charm that I will be happy to share.

L’Éguille-sur-Seudre – In the land of oyster maturing
Does it tell you a feeling of being at the end of the world just a stone’s throw from the town of Éguille? Destination La Pointe, in the heart of the Seudre marshes. By side roads, I accompany you in the middle of nature. With a little luck, we will flush out the heron or the egret. Together, we will take the time for a ride to the rhythm of the tides.

Having always been passionate about nature and walking and having worked on projects combining the sea and rivers here in Eguille sur Seudre, I found what I was looking for was les claires (Places where we refine oysters)

Vaux-sur-Mer – Discovery of the Abbey of Saint-Étienne
In the heart of the town, the Romanesque art sculpted on the church of Vaux-sur-Mer reads like an open stone book. Not easy to turn the pages, will you tell me? I am waiting for you on the church square where we will spend a moment together, with our noses up, letting our eyes wander over the details of the church. Listen carefully, the stones have more than one story to tell us…
Vaux-sur-Mer – Hike from the village to the beach
Vaux-sur-Mer is a seaside resort on a human scale. Let’s take the opportunity to walk in peace. Ready for a walk on the footpaths and the Sentier des Douaniers in the shade of the Bois des Fées? So, we go up the socks and the time! We set out to discover the history of Vaux through its monuments (church, temple, town hall) and its nature (park, woods, beaches). I will share with you the events that have made Vaux-sur-Mer from “the time of the abbeys” until the bombardment of the Pocket of Royan in April 1945. From alleys to alleys, we will take detours in history and even your calves will remember it.
Who am I ?
Always very happy to share with newcomers my interest in the heritage of the town of Vaux-sur-Mer where I have lived for more than 40 years. I have traveled, during the day, paths and alleys, in the evening, archives, brochures and manuscripts to satisfy my curiosity. I have shared it with many visitors during medieval festivals and heritage days. I witnessed the metamorphosis of the agricultural town into a seaside resort. A vast wooded park now occupies the center of the city, accompanying springs and ponds to the fine sandy beaches.

L’Éguille-sur-Seudre – Discovering the port
An oyster port like Éguille has many stories to tell. From the quays, I invite you to discover them, for example, crossing the Seudre by the chain ferry and then by the swing bridge. The sails, the pontoons, the locks will serve as our backdrop. Along the water and our exchanges, we will not see the time pass except to watch the tide evolve.
Who am I ?
It was the water that made me land at L’Eguille. I was looking for a port for the boat and it was in the port of Eguille that I dropped anchor. This port is not quite like the others. It leads directly to the smallest river in France, the Seudre. It is with time that I discovered its history there. Imagine more than 120 years ago when salt was the main occupation and shellfish harvesters, cargo boats (sailing) that sailed according to currents and winds. The port was a strategic point for travel between Royan and Rochefort. We had to cross the Seudre. See you soon for more.

From street to street, we retrace together the different stages of his stay in the seaside resort. I will show you the places he frequented. During our walk together, the little story intersects with the big one. Everyone knows what a genius Picasso is, but few know his confidential parenthesis in Royan. Saint-Georges de Didonne – In the footsteps of Pastor Jarousseau
Let’s go together to meet Pasteur Jarousseau, a figure of the Protestant cult in Saint-Georges-de-Didonne in the 18th century. My passion for local history will serve as a time machine for you. At the bend of the streets, from place to place I will reveal to you the life of this extraordinary character. For a moment shared in the heart of St-Georges, the stories of Pasteur Jarousseau seem very much alive.
Who am I ?
I am passionate about the local history of St-Georges de Didonne, where I have lived for 22 years and Royan where I was administrator of the local Museum. I collect documents on these two cities and distribute them on the net through a site and several pages on social networks. My favorite subjects are: the Pilotes de la Gironde, the Decauville tramway in Royan, the building of reconstruction, vernacular villas.

Saint-Palais-sur-Mer – The marsh of Bernezac
What if we went together for a little tour of the Bernezac marsh? A stone’s throw from the beach, it’s no longer the beach! We start with the Corniche de Nauzan for a 360° panorama between the entrance to the Gironde estuary, the Cordouan lighthouse and the seaside villas. We then leave the coast for a more confidential walk. Let’s head towards the Old Bell Tower and the old tram line, now a small forest path. I am waiting for you to share a good time between Saint-Palais-sur-Mer and Vaux-sur-Mer in a neighborhood as quiet as it is secret.
Saint-Palais-sur-Mer – Jogging on the Customs Path
Come on ! We put on our shoes and we left for 8 km (with stops, I assure you)! From Platin beach, the stride is light, enough to admire the villas and squares that dot our route as well as the Cordouan lighthouse that can be seen on the horizon. We will enjoy the view from the promontory of the Grand Côte. The return will be via the lake of Saint-Palais-sur-Mer. Forget the sporting competition, we run here to the rhythm of our exchanges on the environment that surrounds us. So when do we meet at the starting line?
Who am I ?
I have known St Palais for more than 35 years. First attracted by its varied coastline, St Palais has become over time the symbol of family holidays where everyone enjoys getting together. I gradually discovered the richness of its built heritage and the variety of more confidential interior landscapes. Then I became interested in its history, no doubt to better root myself in this space and in time. I propose to share with you my affinity for this beautiful city.
