Bordeaux: where is it, what is it?

Bordeaux is a commune in the South-West of France. Capital of Aquitaine Gaule under the Roman Empire for nearly 200 years; then the Duchy of Aquitaine, the royal province of Guyenne and the Enlightenment century, it is today the capital and prefecture of the New Aquitaine region, the department of Gironde and the seat of Bordeaux Metropole.

We had a lovely walk with Gilles in Bordeaux and saw lots of things we wouldn’t have with a regular tour, like the rampart under the DIY store! It was nice to hear some of the town’s history, including the meaning of the ‘three rivers’ symbol.
